A somewhat silly illustrated chapter book for 1st-3rd grade readers.

Dragon for a Day
Mr. Frankie always wanted to be a substitute teacher. After the last incident with the accidental blob, though, no school will hire him! And that’s when he sees an ad.
Wanted: Substitute Dragon.
Being a substitute dragon shouldn’t be harder
than being a substitute teacher . . . right?
Meet the Characters

Why Mr. Frankie?
Mr. Frankie came into being, as most characters do, when we were supposed to be working on something else. Maybe we needed a break from that other project, maybe we needed something light and fun, maybe we just needed a dragon. And maybe others do too.
Why an Illustrated Book?
Honestly, it’s just what felt right.
Mr. Frankie was always going to be a little silly and a little whimsical. And we’re so excited about the illustrations that help bring it to life. (Plus now all the “little brothers and sisters” have something written for them, too.)
Why Kickstarter?
Kickstarter gives us an opportunity to connect with readers more personally, to get the books into their hands faster, and to let them in on the fun and excitement of launching a new book. This time, we hope they’ll even help us choose future books in the series!
Illustrator Sydney Edwards
Sydney Edwards is an artist residing in southeast Wisconsin who has a love for many of the visual arts. Painting and illustrating are among Sydney’s favorite medias.
She is excited to have the opportunity to focus on and use her God-given talent of illustration for the first time in Substitute Dragon. Sydney’s hobby of creating artwork for herself and friends has turned into an opportunity to share her illustrations to a much broader audience in the hopes of inspiring a future generation of artists.
Those who are interested in seeing more of Sydney’s artwork can find and follow her on Instagram at Sydneyedwards_illustrations
